Anne Stokes, her life and art.

Posted by Philip Dowsing on

Welcome to our first Retro Stuff Blog.

Today we feature the wonderful Gothic and Fantasy world from the mind of Anne Stokes.

Her story.

British born artist Anne, originally from London now resides in Yorkshire. As a child her father read 'The Hobbit' to her which was the seed leading to her creations that we see and love today.

Drawing on classical historic fables her themes cover a broad spectrum from magical Faeries and Dragons to the dark Gothic, exploring humanity's fascination with all things mystical. Her take on it all, really is in the reinvention of these subjects in a contemporary and exciting way of looking at the whole genre, literally.

Lenticular 3D

I've always had a fascination for all things 3D (having had a collection of stereoscopic 'Viewmasters' since I was a kid) and many years back came across her work featured as a 3D Lenticular print, I was really blown away at the sheer depth within and protruding from the image.

Techie bit: Prints giving this 3D illusion of depth are created utilising multi-layered 3D imagery with the latest technology, not printed traditionally but are produced using an HD plastic via a Lenticular three dimensional lens.

This spurred me on to retail these to her fans and the general public alike.

Meeting Anne

I first met Anne at a trade event Birmingham in 2018. She struck me as a very personable enthusiastic and thinking person, very willing to give advice to myself and small businesses involved with supplying her amazing products.

Her art is now featured on many sought after collectable products, including Jewellery, Purses, Books, Canvas Wall Art and Sculptures ...many of which can be seen here.

Anne continues to innovate, with new artworks / products which we shall be showcasing right here ...so, watch this space and thanks for reading.
